Cornwall
- If you are looking for a magnificent coastline and sandy
beaches, then Cornwall is the perfect place for you.

county.

cliffs, with beautiful landscapes.
- One of the spectacular drives is the B3306 from St Just to
St Ives, which will take you along Cornwall’s dramatic coastline.

The Atlantic Highway
- The A39, also called the theAtlantic Highway starts in
Barnstaple, snakeing down the coast towards the seaside resort of Newquay. It
is a perfect opportunity to view the beautiful countryside of coastal Devon.
- Beginning the journey in Lynmouth, home of a hillside
railway (from£1.20 children/£2 adults), the drive along the Atlantic Highway
towards Barnstaple will take you down through a section of Exmoor National
Park.
- This national park is known for its walking trails over
miles of open moorland. Just keep a close look out for the Exmoor ponies that
call the moors home.
The Isle of Arran
-It has some of the best mountain biking trails in the whole
of Scotland.
- It is just a little harder to get to than some of the
other spots around.
- Crossing over the Firth of Clyde on the ferry is the only
option and you really do want a car to explore the coastal route.
- Disembarking the ferry head south on the A841 (one of the
only roads on the Isle of Arran) and spend the evening around Whiting
Bay.
- There are lots of Bed and Breakfasts to choose from along
the shoreline.
- The breakfasts will also fuel you for an epic day of
exploring the coastal road that circumnavigates the Isle of Arran.
A "self-drive" holiday in UK is a great way of
exploring the country and discovering areas that aren't easily accessible by
public transport. Having passed the UK driving test will make you drive safely
in different road and traffic conditions. It takes time to plan for a fly-drive
- but the planning can be fun: researching locations. Do as much research as
possible before you arrive and try to make contact with genealogical societies
